Materia Medica
The healing qualities of onions have been known in folk medicine and herbalists for centuries. It has been used externally for acne, chilblains and arthritis; and internally as blood purifier and to expel worms from the bowels.
The juices from the red onion has been sniffed, dripped in the ears or applied to coarse skin. Wine was brewed from onions for the weak-chested, and for obstinate coughs the whole onion was roasted with honey or sugar.
We do not have much established mental and emotional characteristics for All-c, but its healing qualities for runny eyes and nose are well known.
The allergy that can indicate All-c is usually prominent in the spring and in August. The cold and eye inflammation is characterised by:
The fluid is clear, and when being discharged from the nose it is mostly burning and acrid, whilst the discharge from the eyes is neither burning or acrid (the opposite of what we typically observe in Euphr).

The runny eyes and nose are especially prominent in the homoeopathic remedy picture of the red onion. Any ailment that give rise to these symptoms – whether colds or allergies – may benefit from All-c: as long as the characteristics match.
